Micos Coffee and Fundación Proyecto Primates Announce Conservation Partnership

Bogotá, Colombia · October 2026

Micos Coffee, a specialty coffee farm and brand from Santa Rosa de Cabal, Colombia, and Fundación Proyecto Primates (FPP), a Colombian nonprofit dedicated to the study and conservation of Colombia's primates and their habitats, are proud to announce a new conservation partnership.

For nearly two decades, FPP's team has worked to protect Colombia's primates — including the critically endangered brown spider monkey, known locally as the choibo — while also helping restore and conserve the forests and ecosystems they depend on. Its work in the Magdalena Medio includes biological research, wildlife corridors, native tree nurseries, habitat restoration, community education, and a growing network of private conservation reserves.

Micos Coffee takes its name from Finca Los Micos, whose hillsides were once home to the monkeys. Through this partnership, the farm named for monkeys now has an opportunity to help tell a larger story — one about protecting Colombia's primates, restoring forests, conserving biodiversity, and safeguarding the natural resources that sustain both wildlife and communities.

Through this partnership, Micos Coffee and FPP are collaborating on outreach and education, introducing coffee drinkers in Colombia and the United States to FPP's conservation work and helping raise awareness of the connection between healthy ecosystems, wildlife, communities, and the landscapes where Colombian coffee is grown. The collaboration is being presented publicly at the 2026 Feria Cafés de Colombia in Bogotá, where FPP's approved name, logo, imagery, and conservation materials will be featured as part of Micos Coffee's booth and outreach. Both organizations expect the collaboration to grow in the years ahead.
